Imagine if you ran your business like the campaign. What can you do in business to win with the customers that might vote for you?
How far we have come. From the early 1970s when George Silverman created “telephoned peer influence groups”, to now, word of mouth has grown to be the number one form of advertising. According to Nielsen, “92% of consumers trust recommendations from other people—even if they don’t know them personally—over promotional content that comes directly from brands.”
Creating and publishing content on social media to direct online traffic to a business’s website has become popular over the last few years. According to a Forbes article, “As of December 2014, 31.24% of all referral traffic was from social media; compare this to the 22.71% from the same period in the previous year.” This number is continuing to grow as more customers are relying on word of mouth recommendations from friends on their social media sites.
